Smithsonian Magazine: Are psychedelics the future of eating disorder treatment?

It was a pleasure to be a part of this recent Smithsonian Magazine article focusing on using psychedelics to facilitate eating disorder treatment. The story features two previous patients, who received ketamine as part of a study I led at Center for Change, an eating disorder facility in Utah, and both found significant benefits in their ketamine experiences.

Eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia are really tricky psychiatric conditions to treat, and unfortunately, relapse rates are high, remission is low, and we still have a long way to go when it comes to finding effective ways to help these clients. My hope is that psychedelics can offer a new way to address the rigid thought patterns that characterize these conditions, and provide insights that soften the road to recovery.

It was probably one of the most powerful experiences of my life and my healing journey.
